2009 Golden Bravo Award Presented..

May 4, 2009

A Whitehorse business has been honoured for its exceptional work in helping to organize one of the Yukon’s many conferences last year.

Leaf Solutions, based in Whitehorse, was presented with the 2009 Golden Bravo Award on Saturday evening, during the Gala Dinner of the Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon Spring Conference, held in Dawson City over the weekend.

The Golden Bravo Award, sponsored by Northwestel, is presented each year by the Yukon Convention Bureau. The award is presented to a Yukon service provider who exceeds client expectations and provides outstanding service in the meetings, conventions and events market.

Leaf Solutions received the award for the company’s work in assisting organizers of the Northern Health and Learning Symposium, held in Whitehorse in September 2008. The event was organized by the Yukon School Health Advisory Committee on behalf of the Canadian Council on Learning's Health and Learning Knowledge Centre. It attracted approximately 100 delegates and speakers from across the North.

The award was presented to Leaf Solutions President Wanda Leaf by Northwestel Director Communications Anne Kennedy and Yukon Convention Bureau President Heather McIntyre.

“On behalf of Northwestel and the Yukon Convention Bureau, I am very pleased to present the 2009 Golden Bravo Award to Leaf Solutions,” said Kennedy. “The organizers of the Northern Health and Learning Symposium were clearly impressed with the service they received from Leaf Solutions. Their nomination expressed their appreciation for the company’s expertise, experience, advice and attention to detail, as well as the optimism, good humour and “can do” attitude shown by Wanda Leaf and her staff. This level of high quality service deserves recognition and helps set the bar high for future events in the Yukon.”

“This award is one way to thank organizations, businesses or individuals who go beyond the call of duty to provide superior service to an event or conference being held in the Yukon,” said Maureen Bundgaard, Yukon Convention Bureau Managing Director. “The Bureau works all year long to showcase the Yukon as a fantastic place to host events and meetings. We are very pleased to recognize planners who help make those events the very best that they can be.”

This year, five outstanding organizations were nominated for their excellent work. In addition to award recipient Leaf Solutions, the other nominations went to the High Country Inn, the MacBride Museum, Uncommon Journeys and Yukon Artists @ Work.
